Sensitive Skin Care: 3 homemade face masks for glowing skin!

Sensitive skin care can be tricky. There are so many remedies and products out there for skin. But I find it so frustrating that many don’t cater to sensitive skin or claim they do but are wayyy to harsh. So without further ado, here are the 3 best all natural sensitive face masks to have radiant perfect skin! Luckily, most the ingredients are laying around in our cupboards and cost almost Nada. Zilch. Zero. All the masks coincidently contain honey because it is a great natural (cheap too!) ingredient which is used in many more expensive lotions and potions.

Sensitive Skin Care

Name: Sweet Sweet Lovin’

Ingredients:

1 egg
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 mashed banana
1/4 cup oatmeal, cooked with milk

Directions:

Spread evenly on the face. Rub the mixture into the skin in circular motions. Leave on for 15/20 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water. Dab face dry to not irritate the skin if your skin is very sensitive. This mask is completely natural with no harsh chemicals or ingredients making it perfect for sensitive skin.

Benefits:

Eggs: Eggs are an excellent source of protein which helps nourish and firm the skin. It also contains lecithin, a natural emollient making skin smooth.
Honey: Honey is great for balancing the skin’s natural acid mantle.
Banana: These sweet miracles are packed with vitamin A, great for producing collagen- the skin’s essential building block. It also gives the mask a great smell and texture.
Oatmeal: One of the best things you can eat and use on your skin as it is packed with vitamins and minerals gently exfoliating and cleansing the skin.

Sensitive Skin Care

Name: Cool & Calming

Ingredients:

2 teaspoons raw honey
1 teaspoon aloe vera gel

Directions:

Mix the two ingredients together well. Apply evenly over face and leave it on for 20 minutes.

Benefits:

Aloe vera: This lovely stuff is full of calming and cooling properties. It’s anti-inflammatory which is great for sensitive skin. As the sun is one of the leading causes of premature aging, aloe vera comes to the rescue as it calms down sunburn and repairs the skin. Therefore aloe vera is a fabulous anti aging ingredient for sensitive skin. It feels super refreshing on your face too.

Sensitive Skin Care

Name: Age-Defying Miracle Paste

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon raw honey
1/2 teaspoons of vitamin E oil

Directions:

Mix all ingredients together to form a thick paste like the consistency and appearance of caramel. Apply over face and you can especially focus on problem areas. Leave on for 40-60 minutes. You can also rub the mixture into the skin to exfoliate. Wash off the mixture with warm water and pat face gently till dry. Also, this mask is great for eczema.

Benefits:

Nutmeg: is packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, therefore, soothing the skin and preventing oxidative stress that can lead to aging signs. It is a perfect gentle natural exfoliator to get rid of dead skin cells revealing healthy skin underneath.
Vitamin E: is a powerful antioxidant that prevents aging and works as a natural sun block (again preventing aging skin). The oil form is great for those of you with dry and sensitive skin which is common. Read more about the science of vitamin E on our Vitamin E For The Skin page.

  1. These look really great and I can’t wait to try them. One question though – I notice that all of these contain honey and I was wondering if this can cause problems with oily or acne-prone skin?

    1. Hi Nicole, thanks for your comment, great question! Honey is great for oily skin because it moisturizes it without making it too oily. For acne it’s also fantastic as honey has anti bacterial and anti inflammatory properties. But remember, everyone’s skin is different. If your skin reacts badly to honey, stay tuned for more of our sensitive homemade masks.
      All the best,

  2. Honestly I’m going to try this ASAP! I’ve always had pretty good skin until about a year ago when I went through a bad breakup. Every since then my skin is awful – I guess its the stress ugh! Anyways apparently my skin doesnt like stuff from the store. It doens’t matter how gentle or natural what I buy at the drug store it – it makes my skin even worse!!!!
