3 Homemade Face Masks For Oily Skin

Mask 1: Sweet & Tangy

Ingredients:

  • A few drops of lemon (if you have sensitive skin be cautious, test first)
  • 1 tablespoon of clay
  • 10 strawberries (one for eating of course!)

How to prepare & use:

  • mix all ingredients together which will form a pink nice smelling paste. Make sure it’s mixed well. Apply evenly on your face (make sure to avoid eyes and hair) and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with tepid water. Do this once or twice a week.

Benefits:

  • Nothing is as good as clay for oily skin. And guess what? You don’t need to buy some fancy shmancy face mask either. Clay powerfully removes dirt, oil and dead skin from the skin leaving it soft, oil-balance and looking younger.
  • The particles in clay carry a negative charge and sucks up toxins out of your skin like a skin vacuum.
  • It also tightens the skin making it look younger.
  • Strawberries are great for acne-prone skin which is a usual symptom of oily skin. Strawberries contain natural salicylic acid which reduces oil build up and it also evens out skin tone making you appear younger and fresher.
  • Lemon also lightens skin blemishes.

Mask 2: Breakfast Scrub

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of fine oatmeal (rolled oats for extra absorption!)
  • 1 teaspoon of warm honey  (to bind the mask and adds extra health benefits)

How to prepare & use:

  • Mix all the ingredients together and apply evenly all over face and neck if you like.
  • Leave the mask on for 10 to 15 minutes. When rinsing, exfoliate your face with the oats in a circular motion. Rinse with warm water. If you are lazy to mix the oats and honey, simply apply plain yogurt to your face and wash off after 15 minutes.
  • This mask can be done 2x a week. The plain yogurt mask can be done every day or as often as you would like.

Benefits:

  • Yogurt has similar benefits as clay as it removes excess oil from the skin due to the lactic acid found in it. It also gently exfoliates the skin getting rid of dead skin cells.
  • Oatmeal works as a great absorbent for oily skin. Another secret? Oatmeal moisturizers the skin so the skin thinks it doesn’t have to produce more oil. Pretty cool right? This mask will give your skin a matte finish.
  • Similarly honey absorbs oil, tightens the face and acts as a moisturizer without making your face greasy.
